Walking for Holland

When I write/speak about autism, I tend to always go back to this story that I read during my teaching credential class on special education. It is called "Welcome to Holland" and I have linked it below (it's a short read that I HIGHLY recommend):

In being in a position where I can do something about autism, I finally decided to. Coming from a family in which knowing about autism, its spectrum, and feeling blessed about the situations and tests we are given, I have found it in my power to participate in the Walk Now for Autism Speaks event at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on April 21st. As I've stated before, all things autism are near and dear to me, so me wanting to participate in this event was a no brainer.

In whichever way you could help me during this event, whether it be as a donation or as a walker on my team, it would all be very much appreciated. I know we all have our causes, but not all of us are able to fight for them, and that's who I'm doing this on the behalf of, those who can't fight for themselves.

Autism Speaks helps sponsor programs and treatment, which I have seen work wonders firsthand. Below is a link to my walker page. I invite you to look around and learn about this walk and the wonderful things this organization does and can continue to do with the right sponsorship.

I walk because I believe that even though we may never find a cause or cure, that fighting for the right of people with autism to live as normally as possible is worth fighting for.

In advance, thank you.
